Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression

Freedom of expression

Freedom of expression is essential in the academic sphere. Everyone has the right to freely express and disseminate their opinion and to access the sources they deem necessary. All administrative staff, all teaching staff and all students enjoy this freedom, the freedom to debate and discuss ideas, without hindering the ability of members of the University to do their job well. The Stakeholder Engagement Policy provides guidelines for engagement and communication with stakeholders. It aims to ensure transparency in all activities, that is, the activities that the University undertakes to engage stakeholders in the University’s efforts.

Academic freedom

Academic freedom implies the autonomy of higher education institutions. Indeed, it is the freedom that university staff must have in scientific research, teaching and expression within the framework of their function. The necessary independence of academics in their fields of research and teaching is mainly explained by the emergence of various threats that come from the political, economic and activist spheres. Academic freedom is ensured in our university institutions. The academic body is not censored in class or in interviews by researchers in the media or in scientific publications. Academic freedom includes the freedom to seek, receive and transmit information and ideas. Freedom to teach includes the method and form that teachers choose, that is to say oral, written, direct teaching, interactive, learning through experience or by any other means they deem favorable.
