The 2026 SDG reports: what is inside the 18 PDF reports

UTM’s 2026 SDG reports are published on the SDG Reports 2026 page as 18 PDF files: one report for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and one general report. Every goal can also be read online. This article explains what each kind of report contains, so that readers know where to look.

The general report

The general report presents the university’s year across all the goals. It contains four parts:

  • An introduction to UTM with its key figures: 15 establishments, 29,617 students in 2025/2026, more than 3,700 teacher-researchers and 35 nationalities among international students.
  • The list of SDG ambassadors, including the global sustainability and impact monitoring of Prof. Hanene Boussi.
  • A month-by-month chronology in which each item is followed by the number of every SDG it relates to.
  • A goal-by-goal section with a short summary for each of the 17 goals.

The 17 goal reports

Each goal has its own report, available as a PDF and as an online page. The online pages follow the pattern /sdg-1-2026/ up to /sdg-17-2026/. A goal report is organised as follows.

It opens with a cover that gives the goal number and name. It then names the ambassador or ambassadors of the goal, with their roles. The main part is headed “Our year for SDG” followed by the goal number: a short introduction, then titled entries describing what the university’s establishments and partners did. Photographs carry a caption and a credit line. The report ends with a closing page that identifies the university and the 2026 edition.

Activities that belong to several goals

Some activities serve more than one goal. For example, the general report tags the AviBiocin pilot fermentation unit with both SDG 2 and SDG 3, and both goals mention it in their summaries. In the chronology these links are shown by listing every relevant goal after the item. The same activity can therefore appear in more than one goal report, each time seen from that goal’s angle.

Who leads each report

UTM’s work for the goals is organised in 17 teams, one for each goal, each led by professor ambassadors. The SDG ambassadors page lists the ambassadors of each goal, and each goal report repeats the names for its own goal. The article 17 goals, 17 teams describes how the teams are organised.

Downloading and citing

The reports page offers the general report, each goal report and a single ZIP archive that contains all 18 files. When citing a report, give the goal, the 2026 edition and the address of the page you used, for example SDG 6, Clean Water and Sanitation.

How the reports relate to other publications

UTM’s sustainability pages also list SDG reports for 2022 and 2023, a carbon emissions page and a carbon reduction action plan. The 2026 reports are UTM’s own publications and are separate from the scoring of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings. THE’s rules on evidence are explained in How the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 work, and UTM’s 2026 ratings results are summarised in UTM first in Tunisia.
